Make the move to electric stack up
The NSW Government’s EV fleets competitive bid incentive helps fleets close the cost gap between a battery electric vehicle and its petrol or diesel equivalent.
It’s designed for organisations with 21 or more vehicles in NSW that are ready to purchase 11 or more new electric vehicles and associated charging infrastructure.
The funding is awarded through a reverse auction: you submit an initial bid, see how it ranks against the field, then have an opportunity to place a final bid. Initial bids must be submitted by 16 October 2026.
What funding is available?
There is a total pool of $11.5m available across electric vehicles and smart charging infrastructure.
Vehicle incentives
You set the amount you request. The department applies an undisclosed ceiling on the average incentive per vehicle (Round 6 was $8,000).
Charging incentives
- Charging incentives are opt-in and set as a maximum payable amount to cover eligible charger procurement and installation costs.
- The incentive includes a Charging-as-a-Service (CaaS) option and can cover CaaS subscription payments.
- DC ports are capped at 10% of ports for light vehicles (passenger and SUV) and 50% of ports for light commercial vehicles (vans, utes, light trucks, people movers).

How does the process work?
01.
Register to bid
Register on the NSW bidding platform using your ABN. The platform includes a total cost of ownership calculator and emissions calculator.
02.
Prepare your bid
You’ll need your current fleet structure, the EV models and volumes you want, estimated mileage, and how much of the total cost of ownership gap you’re requesting.
03.
Include charging funding
Opt in to charging funding and nominate your mix of AC and DC ports. This won’t affect your ranking or bid position.
04.
Submit your bids
Submit your initial bid, see how you rank against the field, then place your final bid.
05.
Complete the funding agreement
If successful, sign the funding deed within 15 business days and submit your delivery plan.
06.
Place your orders
Raise purchase orders by 25 June 2027. For payment, provide NSW registration certificates and itemised tax invoices for your charging.

Who is eligible?
- Individual fleets
Organisations with a valid ABN operating 21 or more vehicles in NSW for their own operations. - Fleet aggregators
Private businesses with an ABN that lease vehicles to NSW customers, such as fleet management organisations. The full vehicle and charging incentive must be passed on to customers. - Bid requirements
Every bid needs 11 or more vehicles. Your organisation can be headquartered anywhere in Australia, but incentivised vehicles must be registered, based and used predominantly in NSW. Chargers must also be installed in NSW.
Who isn’t eligible?
Vehicle manufacturers, car dealers and motor vehicle licence holders, budget-dependent NSW Government agencies, and novated lease arrangements.
