Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies across all the websites that we own and operate and across all our products and services, whether physical or online.

When we refer to ‘we’ (or ‘our’ or ‘us’), we are referring to JET Charge Pty Ltd (ABN 35 600 116 756) and all its wholly owned subsidiaries (eg JET Charge Limited in New Zealand).

We may change this policy from time to time by publishing changes on our websites and updating the ‘last updated’ notice. We encourage you to check in from time to time to see if the policy has changed.

Information we collect and hold

Personal information we collect and hold may include:

  • your personal details, such as your first and last name, email and physical addresses, property information (including photographs) and payment card or account details;
  • recruitment-related information such as your employment history, education and training background, qualifications, types of roles you are interested in, your application form and resume or CV and referee details. If you progress through the interview process, we may also collect interview notes, references, background checks (including police checks), your work visa and other information to verify your identity and right to work;
  • information about your current or intended use of our products or services;
  • depending on the JET Charge products and services you use:
    • information about your current or intended use of any electric vehicles (EVs) or any EV charging products or services, including RFID tag information, charging settings (such as for charging times), charging session information (such as when charging starts and stops and load management activities), rate of charge, energy consumption, cost and vehicle information (EV Charging Information);
    • information about any EV charging equipment or systems that you use, including equipment status;
    • information about any products or services that interact with any EVs or EV charging products or services that you use, such as solar or battery storage systems;
    • information about how you interact with our websites and app (such as your IP address, the web browser you use, the content you access, and other information collected via cookies).

If you don’t provide the necessary personal information when required, we may not be able to provide the products and/or services you would like for us to provide.

How we collect personal information

  • We collect personal information directly from you. This includes when you provide with information (such as when we talk to you, when you fill out a form on our website, when you email us or interact with our social media accounts) and when we collect the information ourselves (such as when you visit our websites, and when you otherwise interact with us, our products or our services).
  • We also collect personal information from the EV charging products and services that you use.
  • We may also collect personal information from others, such as our related entities, business and commercial partners (such as EV providers, fleet management and services providers, and owners’ corporations or building services providers), along with our service providers and wholesale customers. We may also collect information from organisations like regulators, marketing companies, or other industry participants, such as energy distributors and retailers.

How we use personal information

We may use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • to provide our products and services to you, including to process payments;
  • to allow you to monitor and control your EV charging equipment;
  • to communicate with you (including to respond to any questions or comments you have sent to us, and to provide operational communications such as changes to our websites, products and services);
  • to administer our business and to continuously develop and improve our websites, products and services, which may include analysis of EV charging equipment or system use, performance, quality, usage, location and demographic trends and other types of behavioural and usage data; to enable third parties to provide goods and/or services to you, for example, employers, strata management companies acting for Owners’ Corporations, fleet management organisations, public charging providers, or logistics organisations working with drivers;
  • to send you promotions or information about our (or other) products, services and trials which we think may be of interest to you, unless you opt out;
  • to personalise the advertisements that you see online, and make suggestions to you regarding our products and services, and third-party products and services;
  • to detect, prevent or investigate any fraudulent or malicious activities, including investigating any complaints relating to the misuse of a website;
  • to collect amounts you may owe us, or to sell or assign our debts, or in connection with any other financing arrangements (eg, if we sell or assign debts you owe us to another party);
  • to comply with our legal obligations and for other purposes required or authorised by law; and
  • any other use that you provide permission for.

Who we share personal information with

We may disclose your personal information with other organisations or individuals in the following circumstances:

  • When we engage other companies and individuals to perform services for us. Examples include installation of EV charging equipment, billing services, processing direct debit payments, providing hosting and web services, sending communications, analysing data, providing marketing assistance, processing card payments and debt recovery services. We contractually require that these companies or individuals agree to use personal information only as required to provide their services (and not for other purposes), and that they comply with applicable privacy laws.
  • We may share your information with any member of our corporate group for any of the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.
  • We may share your information with our business or commercial partners and other businesses we work with, such as your employer where they have partnered with us to provide their employees with EV charging, your owners’ corporation or other services provider where they have partnered with us to provide EV charging.
  • We may use your information to produce anonymised and aggregated analytics and reports, which we may share publicly or with third parties.
  • Where we (or any of our group companies) sell or propose to sell a business or any part of a business, we may provide your personal information as part of a database to the buyer. In that case, we may also retain your information within our group and use it in accordance with this Privacy Policy (or any other terms we agree with you).
  • We may share your information with financiers, investors or other participants, parties and advisors involved in the collection of any amounts you may owe us, or any sale or assignment of our debts, or any financing arrangements. Examples include where we ask other parties or advisors to assist in the collection of any debts you owe us, or where we sell or assign debts you owe us to another party.
  • Only where we have your consent, we may provide your personal information to other organisations so they can send you communications about other products, services or events.
  • We may need to disclose personal information to satisfy any applicable law, legal process or government request.
  • We may also disclose your personal information to other third parties where we have your consent (such as to universities or consultants as part of government and industry projects).

In some situations, an organisation or individual to whom we may need to disclose your personal information may be located outside Australia or New Zealand. For example, organisations located in the Philippines. Wherever this occurs, we require these parties to take appropriate measures to protect your personal information in compliance with applicable privacy law.

Opting out for marketing communications

We may send direct marketing communications to you via various channels (including by email, SMS, phone and via our app) where you have not opted out of receiving such messages from us in that channel.

Any marketing communications we send via email or SMS will always contain a link enabling you to unsubscribe. If you elect not to receive marketing communications, or ask to be removed from a mailing list, we may still send you important messages relating to the products and services we provide to you (including safety messages, changes to our terms and conditions and policies, and  changes to the products and/or services you receive from us).

We will always ask for your consent before providing your information to anyone else for marketing purposes.

Cookies, tracking and analytics

We may use a “cookie” file (session or persistent) containing information that can identify the computer or other device you are using. The cookie file is anonymous and is only used to identify visits from the same web browser.

We may use the information generated by “cookies” to track traffic patterns to and from our websites, including information like the pages you visit, the time you spend on each page, the date and time of your visit, and pages you came from or go to.

You can choose to refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser or deleting them from your hard drive. You do not need to have cookies turned on to use our websites, however, turning them off may affect your experience of parts of those websites.

We may also use “Log files” to track actions occurring on our websites, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps, and electronic files such as “Web beacons”, “tags”, and “pixels” to record information about how you browse our websites.

We also use software and systems which analyse information about our websites, such as the number of page views, the number of unique visitors, how long these visitors spend on the websites, and common entry and exit points into and from the websites.  This information is collected and aggregated so you can’t be identified personally, and no personal information about you is stored.

Links to other sites

Our websites may contain links to websites of other companies or organisations. Before you provide any of your personal information on these other websites, we recommend that you check any relevant privacy policies for that website first, to understand how your information may be used by the collecting party.

Your rights

Any personal information that you provide to us will be collected, used, disclosed and held by us in accordance with this privacy policy and applicable laws.

You have the right to access or correct personal information that we hold about you. If you would like to do so, please contact us using the contact details listed below. There is no charge to submit a request to access or correct your personal information.

Where you set up any accounts through one of our products or services (such as JET Charge Connect), you may also request for us to delete that account. However, we will still retain your personal information as required for the purpose it was collected for or any allowable related purpose. This includes accounting purposes, and to be able to verify products and services provided, and payments made.

If you have privacy-related questions, or any concerns about how we are handling your personal information, please contact us using contact details below as applicable. We will review and respond to your complaint within a reasonable time.

If you are dissatisfied with our response, you can also contact your local privacy protection authority, being the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (details at www.oaic.gov.au), or the Privacy Commissioner of New Zealand (details at www.privacy.org.nz).

Changes to this policy

JET Charge reserves the right to amend this policy from time to time, to meet changing regulatory requirements, to address operational changes, and as otherwise reasonably required. Any changes will be advised by publishing a new version on our website.
