JET Charge leads IAGโs fleet electrification with ARENA-backed program
JET Charge is assisting Australiaโs largest general insurer, IAG (whose operations include NRMA, CGU and WFI), as it transitions its tool of trade fleet of around 650 fossil-fuel-powered vehicles to electric or hybrid electric models by 2030.
JET Charge will install chargers at IAG employeesโ homes while providing an ongoing solution for maintenance and reporting with our JET Charge+ Charging as a Service (CaaS). Launched in 2023, with funding support from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency’s (ARENA), Driving the Nation Fund, CaaS aims to unlock fleet electrification at scale.
IAG is Australiaโs largest general insurer, with a stated goal to achieve net zero emissions across their operations by 2050. As part of this pathway, they will transition their entire tool-of-trade fleet to electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) by the end of 2030.Each low-emission vehicle circulated into the fleet is likely to result in an average scope 1emission reduction of 47% compared to IAGโs current fossil-fuel-powered vehicles.
KEY CHALLENGES:
Employee access to charging hardware
IAG ran a 12-month EV pilot program with employees based in rural and metro locations. The program identified at-home charging as the most useful solution for fleet drivers and, by extension, access to domestic charging infrastructure as a large barrier to EV ownership.
Managing maintenance of employee chargers
With thousands of employees across Australia, IAG requires an end-to-end charging solution that includes installation and maintenance of charging infrastructure.
Managing charger relocations
According to industry averages, 15% of employees leave their job each year and 45% move home every 5 years. This means vehicle reassignments are common and infrastructure relocations critical to maintaining a viable fleet.
Streamlined emissions reporting
As IAG works towards its goal of being a net zero insurer by 2050, it needs to be able to accurately and easily report on its fleet emissions.
JET Charge is guiding IAG to roll out a streamlined and efficient fleet electrification project via our Charging as a Service solution, JET Charge+, available at a government-subsidised 30% reduction for the first companies to transition their fleets. By installing domestic chargers in employee homes, workers have a practical and convenient charging solution that supports their business and personal vehicle usage. Advantages include:
Employees have vehicles charged to 100%
Each day Employees avoid using costly public chargers during work and personal hours
Fleet vehicles stay on the road for longer
This end-to-end solution will see JET Charge install, maintain and operate charging hardware at employeesโ homes. Taking a 360 approach to ongoing management of the charging infrastructure removes the hassle and headache for IAG as they look to undertake such a vast EV rollout across Australia.
In addition to the technical support and maintenance, JET Charge’s own EV charging asset management platform, Illuminate, captures all charging utilisation data and IAG-specific payroll inputs to support their reporting on reimbursement activities and carbon abatement. This streamlined reporting makes it much easier for IAG to measure their emissions impact on the road to net zero.
As a bundled, ongoing subscription, JET Charge+ helps to remove upfront costs and ongoing complexities for fleets when it comes to operating EV charging infrastructure.

โWe want to unlock fleet electrification at scale, and by installing, monitoring and maintaining all charging infrastructure between workplaces and employeesโ homes, weโre removing a huge amount of legwork in all stages of the transition.โ
