Hot off the heels of the REVS project (one of the world’s largest electric vehicle to-grid trials), JET Charge are excited to partner with Amber, collaborating to give away a vehicle-to-grid capable (V2G) Wallbox Quasar unit valued at $15K! One lucky winner will be one of the first Australian homeowners to utilise the Quasar’s bidirectional charging functionality. The Quasar is the only certified bidirectional charger in Australia. What is V2G?
Vehicle to Grid (V2G) enables bi-directional charging; in addition to charging your electric vehicle, a V2G capable charging station – like the Wallbox Quasar – can also be used to draw electricity from your EV’s battery to supply your home or export energy to the grid. Essentially, charge can go in or out of your vehicle depending on where it’s needed most.

- Applications are open March 30th till 5pm April 12th, 2023.
- The giveaway is only open to South Australian residents as the solely approved state for installation and usage of the Quasar in Australia.
- The Wallbox Quasar is currently compatible with the following selection of models: The Nissan LEAF, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, or Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV

Whilst Wallbox have confirmed that Quasar 1 will not be available for further distribution, we’re happy excited to be collaboratinge alongside fellow innovators like Amber, before the wider release of the next generation of V2G chargers.

Who is Amber?
Amber’s mission is to shift Australia to 100% renewable energy. They’re an electricity retailer and a tech company, passing through real-time wholesale prices directly to homes and businesses so customers can do things like charge their EV on cheaper and greener energy. They then give customers the technology to make the most of wholesale, by automating devices in their homes (currently batteries with EVs coming soon). Customers get 100% of the value earned from their systems – which means that when a battery discharges into the grid at a critical time when their energy is worth more, they can earn as much as $15/kWh, or as much as $100 in a day. Imagine what that will mean for V2G in the future..!
