JET Charge is thrilled to announce our recognition as winners of the 2023 NECA Innovation award for Victoria, for our role as technology and delivery lead for the EV Grid Trial. The NECA Awards are the electrical and communications industry’s highest accolade and one of the most prestigious awards programs in Australia, recognising outstanding achievement and commitment to excellence across the industry. We are also very proud of the efforts of our Residential Installation Team Leader, Ju-Li Tan, for her nomination in the Inaugural Women in Energy category – an outstanding achievement. The Project & Innovation
Electric vehicles (EVs) are projected to account for more than 50% of new passenger vehicle sales by 2030 and 100% post-2035. Recognising the challenge this poses to the electricity grid, JET Charge embarked on an innovative journey to change the way we approach EV charging management. Central to this was our participation in the EV Grid Trial – an initiative funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and undertaken in partnership with five Distributed Network Service Providers.
The aim of the project was to understand the impacts of EVs on the electricity system, consumer willingness to participate in grid events and to demonstrate how Distribution Network Service Providers can play a direct role in EV charging management and as a result lead to a material advancement in their preparedness for the impacts of EVs on the electricity system. By creating a dynamic interface between energy distribution businesses and end-users, the project lays the foundation for a future where electric vehicles become a key contributor to grid stability.
Women in Energy Finalist
JET Charge also takes immense pride in recognising one of its own. Our Residential Installation Team Leader, Ju-Li Tan, who was a nominated finalist in the inaugural Women in Energy category – an incredible effort!
The award is presented to an individual who is championing change for women in the industry – demonstrating actions and efforts that have resulted in positive outcomes for women within their business and wider industry community.
